I just found out from a patient about this amazing Ayurvedic technique for keeping your teeth and gums in tip top shape. It’s called Oil Pulling.
You can read about it there or you can let me sum it up…you know I am way more fun than the average joe blog.
Here’s the big picture: You swirl oil around in your mouth for 20 minutes a day and swish it between your teeth and up around your gums over and over again and then spit it out and brush your fangs.
Yes, I said 20 minutes.
Yes, I said swirl and fangs…can i move on now?
Some people are reporting that they wake up and go to the kitchen and get a tablespoon of oil and start swishing and make the bed, and take a shower…and then boom…20 minutes is up. You can do that, right?
Why 20 minutes?
In case you don’t know this, our mouths are frankly disgusting. And I don’t want to go into detail on this or you will never want to kiss anyone ever again, sometimes ignorance is bliss, but let’s just say…there are a lot of nasties that we want this oil to pick up and move out of our mouths forever and ever.
Some of the benefits reported from daily use of this Oil Pulling technique are:
Pulls out bacteria that causes Plaque and Tooth Decay
Reduces Gingivitis, or the inflammation in your gums
And freshens breath

I know the last time I was at the dentist, when they were poking that little torture tool into my gums and calling out random numbers my hygienist yelled out more 3’s and even a few 4’s…and I remember thinking, my mouth is going to hell in a handbasket!
